Drizard Stoicheio Savra Breed: Cross of a Female Dragon and Male Lizard/Salamander *elemental beasts most of the time* Age: Live birth or hatch, which is more common. They have a lifespan of roughly 100 years. There are none really seen after the age of 70, as it is believed they take to living in very secluded areas in groups. *About Salamanders: Salamanders, as a mythical being are predominantly fire. Their colors range from Fire Red into brown, different shades of gray, and sometimes black, scales being a dull color, never bright. They look like their real life cousins, sleek, long and thick with a rounded triangle head and eyes on either side that are solid black. Legs sticking out from the body rather than underneath give it a scuttling sort of movement, but in its element, fire salamanders often being found in volcanoes or large hearths in the home move quickly and gracefully. The toes are half webbed giving it the ability to swim. Salamanders of a different element have color matching to the element-water being shades of blue and dusty gray, some even white. Earth being shades of brown, often mottled with green to match the lichen found on many earth surfaces. * Appearance: Highly dependent upon the parents. Size range is large and seems to hold no particular from male to female, range has been recorded from five feet up to 10 feet being the rarer. Common length is 6’2. Shoulder height tends to be the same from Drizard to Drizard, about four feet tall. Some will reach five feet, but must have large parents. Weight depends on the drizards ability to find food for itself after it hatches and leaves. The heaviest recorded was roughly 197 lbs, 8’3L, 4’1H. Most drizards have a thick set of the limb and tend to be good runners. They have four toes and a short Pseudo-thumb that allows them, with both paws, to grasp objects and move them or use them. A drizard can stand and walk upon it’s back legs, however it is awkward and unless needed they tend not to. As decoration, speckling across the back is not uncommon for the species. It looks much like dirt flecks, commonly being brown or black. Eye color matches the largest scale color (i.e. if a drizard is orange and red, with red scales beating orange three to one than the eye color is red) Neck length is middle, sometimes being longer, sometimes being short. A hatch can have mixed neck length. They come in any color that a dragon can which is thought to be every color of the rainbow, though they tend not to be shiny because of their fathers. Typically, they are more earth toned and not so brightly flamboyant, unless the mother’s line has bright colors. Mutations do happen from time to time, in this species more than normal, though it is still rare. Their frequency is due to the origin of the species itself. Diet: Primarily carnivorous, though they will at times when food is scares eat vegetation. As young they eat whatever they can catch and develop their tastes. Some, while learning foods will take a taste to certain plants. Often they seem drawn to spearmint when found. Powers: This again depends upon parents. Most are firebrand, so they can breathe small flames from two-three feet, and if frightened up to five. They also have a resistance to high temperatures. However, as the dragon varies so does the offspring. Blood magic seems not as effecting as elemental magic does in Drizards. If anything, they seem vastly magical retardant, and even repel some magics that may be cast at them. Complexity of a spell does make it easier to cast upon a Drizard. Birth: Most of the time the drizards are hatched from eggs after an incubation of five months, though in warm weather-Late spring and all summer-only two and a half to three months is needed because of the heat. The mother lays a clutch of seven to ten eggs and will stay with them, keeping them warm until hatch. Live birth is rare, and generally does not happen with Drizards, and never with second generations and after as they tend to breed with other Drizards, though they do not breed as well and there are not many females. While Drizards can breed and reproduce offspring that function the same as a Drizard born of a dragon and salamander, they seem to not be able to reproduce as easily. Often trying multiple times before succeeding in becoming gravid. Those of live birth have a high pedigree dragon mother whose body does not produce eggshells. These dragons, like those who lay, leave after their young have hatched and leave to fend for themselves. Those born with wings can use them at birth, however this is only if there is a threat to their lives, as this does cause some damage to their bone structure and wings, which makes them slow and can leave them stunted. Personality: Many Drizards are temperamental about race issues. They are considered a mutation and while there are many of them existing, they have not been called a species. They often take words literally, but in their own definition of the words, which can, at times, be different from the common meaning between others. This leads to misunderstanding in which a Drizard will argue its point and make it known that it is in the right. Beliefs/Intelligence: It is not known what higher power the Drizards might believe in. They seem widely acceptable to any belief provided they are accepted as a species. Drizards seem to hold a high intelligence, and can reason and think and even at times with enough practice imitate language it hears. While they learn they will make up their own ideals to fit words that it does not agree with, and this can cause trouble in some places, as it misinterprets the rules or words given. Origin: The origin of Drizards is backwards and sad. Dragons, exiled from home for certain crimes, or displaced due to human influence found the volcanic homes of Salamanders and in need of company and distraction took them to mate. The offspring were over bred until finally venturing free of the cesspool they came from, or becoming infertile and dying out. Those who ran free were enough to continue the species, and being at various ages helped to jump the population from nothing into what would be endangered were it considered a species.
